Jesika McDanielJesika is a senior studying Biological Systems Engineering focusing on Watershed Management. After graduation, she hopes to attain her masters degree in STEM Education and later pursue her Ph.D. in Engineering Education. Jesika is on the executive board as Pre-College Initiative Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) at Virginia Tech. In this organization she has planned and hosted STEM outreach events for over 400 middle and high school students. She has also been involved in undergraduate research in the Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Department studying the efficacy of point of use water filters. She is also involved in Galipatia Living Learning Community and the Center of Enhancement of Engineering Diversity (CEED).
Sarah MooreheadSarah is a senior studying Biological Systems Engineering and Philosophy with minors in Green Engineering and Watershed Management. After graduation, she hopes to get her masters degree in humanitarian engineering and later pursue her PhD. Sarah is active in the Greek community on campus and is both a brother of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a national marketing and sales fraternity, and, a sister in Gamma Delta Sigma, a local sorority, where she has done a lot of philanthropic work serving as both the internal and external philanthropy chairs. She has also been involved in undergraduate research in BSE studying erosion and sedimentation in streams and has served as a peer mentor for the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity.

Meet The TeamDr. Leigh Anne KrometisDr. Krometis is an associate professor in Biological Systems Engineering. Her research focuses on tracking waterborne contaminants and evaluating environmental health impacts, with past projects tracking antibiotic resistance in agro-ecosystems, quantifying downstream risks related to multi-source E. coli contamination in urban watersheds, and identifying water and sanitation challenges in Central Appalachia. She currently teaches Nonpoint Source Pollution Assessment and Control and Water and Sanitation in Developing Countries courses at Virginia Tech
Erin LingErin Ling is a Sr. Water Quality Extension Associate at Virginia Tech in the Biological Engineering Department. She has a B.A. from Virginia Tech in International Development and two masters degrees from Penn State in Environmental Pollution Control and Rural Sociology. She coordinates the Virginia Household Water Quality Program with Virginia Cooperative Extension, which offers affordable water testing and education to Virginia's 1.6 million well and spring users. As an advisor for this Senior Design project, she will provide guidance on educational tool design and evaluation.

Dr. John W. BurkeJohn is a BSE Department Alumni and is responsible for Montgomery County’s stormwater program duties under the State Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4), Stormwater Management (VSMP), and Erosion and Sediment Control (VESCP) Programs
Ingrid MansIngrid is the GIS Analyst for Montgomery County, where she maintains county spatial data, manages the county’s web GIS Portal, and supports internal county operations and external customers alike with data analysis and map product services. Before joining the County, she earned her Bachelor’s in Geography at Virginia Tech in 2011 and spent 7 years working at the VT’s Conservation Management Institute. She is excited to participate in this partnership with the Hokie family and provide GIS technical advice to the BSE team.
